About us
One family, one passion.
The Stauferfalknerei in the upper Rems valley has been run by father and son for 20 years.
Our birds are not show animals but partners. Their welfare comes first in everything we do – which is why we adapt to the weather and to how our birds are doing on the day. We also care for sick and injured wild birds and release them back into the wild.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Stauferfalknerei?
Right next to the historic Lorch Abbey, Klosterstraße 2, 73547 Lorch. Lorch lies in the Rems valley next to Schwäbisch Gmünd, between Stuttgart and Aalen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany).
Is the falconry a good day out with children?
Yes. The flight show suits all ages, and children are usually right in the middle of it. There are also dedicated children’s and family courses, children’s birthday parties and shows for school classes and nurseries. Lorch Abbey is right next door, so the show and a visit to the abbey make a good day out in the Rems valley.
How do I get there?
By car via the B 29 to Lorch: about 10 km from Schwäbisch Gmünd, 15 km from Schorndorf and 45 km from Stuttgart. There is parking at the falconry. By train, travel to Lorch (Rems valley line Stuttgart–Aalen); from the station it is about a 20-minute walk up to the abbey. Plan your route: Google Maps.
Can I visit outside of the flight show?
No. The falconry is only open during flight shows or as part of a booked course.
Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted during the flight shows. Thank you for your understanding.
