A walk with owls

Owls up close – and the myths surrounding them. From age 6.

New from 2027: at the falconry we introduce three or four of our owls and explain how to tell the species apart – from their silent flight to their flexible necks.

On the walk that follows we turn to the mythology of owls: in antiquity the owl was the bird of the goddess Athena and a symbol of wisdom, while in Germany it was long seen as a bringer of bad luck. How did that come about – and what is really behind it?
