Nature hike – plants, people and the Wilhelma seeds
Through the Götzental to the Schelmenklinge gorge and the giant sequoias.
Around Lorch there are some 50 km of trails that reveal the region’s landscape and history.
From the Naturnah Akademie we walk into the Götzental valley, to the Schelmenklinge gorge with its water features, uphill to the giant sequoias and back in a wide loop. Along the way we look at herbs by the path, special features of the landscape and the sequoias: how did these giants get into the forest? Why are they sometimes called Wellingtonias? And what are the Wilhelma seeds?
The route is about 7 km with no more than 170 m of climbing. There is a break and plenty of time, so the hike suits families well.
